How it works
What is the role of rTribe Online Counseling/Coaching?
rTribe’s vision is to help people live connected and feel better. Clients can work towards healthier living with the help and guidance of a professional counselor or coach. Talking with a professional about your problems, fears, and struggles makes you more conscious about your life, strengths, and helps you set and reach goals. Tracking your progress through rTribe, sharing that with your friends, and getting support from your provider is a powerful combination to experience deep change.
How will I communicate with my provider?
Depending on what plan you subscribe to, you can communicate with your provider through chat, video sessions, and/or audio conversations. All of your messaging will take place right within your rTribe app!
How does messaging/chat work?
After you’ve been TribeMatched™ with a provider, you will be able to start the conversation through the rTribe app. You will be able to message your provider, at any time, securely and privately. Because rTribe believes in “just in time” support, you don’t have to wait for a weekly counseling appointment! You can connect with your provider anytime, anywhere. Chat is asynchronous, meaning not typically live, just like text messaging a friend. So you can send messages at anytime, and your provider will respond- helping you on your journey.
How do live chat sessions work?
Live chat sessions are conversations in which both the provider and the client take part at the same time. For this, you will need to schedule the date and time with your provider. If you have subscribed to the chat+1 video/live session or the premium subscription package which includes 4 live sessions, instead of doing a video/audio section you could choose to do a live chat session.
(But please note, that chat sessions are usually asynchronous! That means you chat as much as you want, and your provider will respond within 24 hours, as they are available.
How do live video/audio sessions work?
Live sessions are set for 30 minutes of focused and confidential one-on-one time with your provider.
Simply schedule the appointment with your provider ahead of time, and when it’s time, they will initiate the live session through chat within the rTribe app.
Why can’t I initiate a video call?
Only providers are able to start a video/audio call after it has been scheduled. Just hang out in chat, and let them know you are ready, and they will invite you to begin the video session. Please make sure you have good internet coverage before beginning the video/audio call.
What happens if my video/audio session was unsuccessful?
After your video session has ended your provider will have to confirm that it was completed successfully. If something went wrong, you should be able to reschedule the video session. Simply chat with the provider and share your needs.
How can I be sure that this is an effective form of help? How can rTribe improve my life?
Studies confirm the effectiveness of the online medium for making life changes. As you check in daily on rTribe you will be able to track and share your progress to help you better see your progress.
Talking with a professional about your problems, fears, and struggles makes you more conscious about your life, your strengths, and helps you set and reach goals. Tracking your progress through rTribe, sharing that with your friends, and getting support from your provider is a powerful combination to experience deep change.
It will require courage and commitment. It’s the only way. You’ve been wounded by people (who hasn’t?) but by connecting with a safe professional who has the knowledge, care, and skills to help, you can experience change. While we can’t guarantee it, we know we have great providers who are willing and able to give you support, or can refer you to the kind of help you need. Remember, rTribe is not a crisis counseling resource and should never be used as one.

Can rTribe Online Counseling/Coaching substitute for traditional face-to-face therapy?
In many cases, the answer is yes. rTribe offers the ability to meet “face to face” with your provider via video sessions. You will be receiving a high standard and quality of care from your professional counselor or coach. You even have the ability to message them daily and hear from them within 24 hours for support! This doesn’t include weekends, however you can discuss any specific requests with your provider.
How long can I use rTribe Online Counseling/Coaching?
Your monthly membership will automatically renew as long as you continue to enjoy and benefit from rTribe Online Counseling/Coaching.
How many chat sessions can I have with my provider?
Typically chat messaging will be asynchronous, meaning you can write as much as you want whenever you want to your provider, and your provider will respond within 24 hours, Monday-Friday. However, you can ask if your provider offers ‘live chat sessions’. The provider is not obligated to offer this, but may offer this service.
How many video sessions can I have with my provider?
The number of video sessions depends on your subscription plan. Chat +1 Live session includes one live video session per month, and the Premium package includes 4 live video sessions per month. If your provider agrees, you can arrange a different agreement with them.
Once I am TribeMatched™ with my provider, will it change?
Our TribeMatch technology pairs you with your best-matched provider. We recommend that once you’ve been matched, you commit to give it your best effort. Change doesn’t come without commitment, and sometimes things ‘appear’ to get worse before it gets better. So we believe in building the provider-Triber relationship by keeping the two together, as that often leads to the best outcomes. So if things aren’t working out, please discuss this with your provider. They are trained to be able to support you to explore these kinds of questions.
However, if for some reason you feel your provider is not the right fit for you, you may request a re-match. Please discuss this with your provider before re-matching to a different provider. To do this you can go to settings>Request a new provider.
Also, your provider will discuss with you if he/she feels like they are not a good fit for you and if you could be better helped by another provider. At times this does happen, and you can explore with your provider how you think and feel about their recommendation.
If my subscription expires and then I renew it, will I have the same provider?
If your subscription expires and then you renew it, we will do our best to match you with the same provider. If both provider and Triber preferences stay unchanged, it is our hope you will be able to continue your subscription where you left off, with the same provider. However, we cannot guarantee that you will be matched with the same provider. For example, if your subscription expires and your provider chooses to no longer work with rTribe, or their schedule becomes full, you would then be matched with a new provider.
Will I be able to read my messages after my subscription has ended?
Yes, even after your subscription has ended you will still be able to log in and read messages exchanged with your provider as long as your free rTribe account remains active.
